"Freddy" De La Rosa, a 47 year old homeless man who was asleep, is brutally attacked in front of Cuca's restaurant in Fresno's Tower District This happened on Sunday, August 18, 2024. He woke up in the hospital after coming out of a coma. There will be more information about this incident in the October Community Alliance newspaper. We have requested a police report of this incident and will find out if the perpetrator has been arrested.

Students at CSU-Fresno held a sit-in on campus to focus attention on the genocide taking place in Gaza and to call for an immediate end to the war. Over 150 students, faculty and community supporters joined as students on campuses across the country are protesting US policy in Palestine, Gaza and Israel. Loud chanting could be heard on campus. "No justice no peace, hands off the Middle East. Occupation is a crime, from Fresno to Palestine.

A new video is available that shows video of how Clovis police officers murdered Isabel De La Torre. The Community Alliance newspaper [http://www.fresnoalliance.com] in Fresno obtained this video through a California Public Records Act Request. De La Torre was having a medical emergency. When the police arrived she sought safety in the bathroom. She was unarmed. A police dog was used to bite and drag her out of the bathroom.

I rarely set out on a camping trip between Easter and Labor Day. I am a tent camper and frankly, it’s too darn hot for my liking in the summer. However, I made an exception last week after reading about the Red River Gorge area of Kentucky. I poked around on the internet and Koomer Ridge Campground was right up my alley. Koomer Ridge is a U.S. Forest Service campground in Pine Ridge, Kentucky. It’s open year-round as a first-come, first-get campground.
