4. Discussion 4.1. Analysis of the Spatial and Temporal Evolution of the Heat Island of XiamenDramatic changes in the surface temperature in Xiamen occurred in the period 2001–2021. Meanwhile, as the core area of the heat island increased significantly and the perforation area expanded slowly, the area of the remaining five kinds of patches all decreased significantly. The spatial pattern of heat islands tends to be concentrated in patches from the original fragmentation.
