Thursday will start calm across the region, but the quiet weather will not last. A weak disturbance and cold front arriving this afternoon and evening is likely to produce a few showers and thunderstorms, especially along and east of US-93. The dry nature of the lower atmosphere will allow the storms to be capable of gusty outflow winds, locally exceeding 50 mph. Small hail and brief heavy rain are also possible. Gusty westerly winds, 25-30 mph, will also accompany this cold front.

High pressure will remain in control through Thursday, allowing temperatures to gradually warm once again. Some of the warmest temperatures of the year so far are possible. A few areas, such as Libby and Thompson Falls, could reach the low 90s Wednesday and/or Thursday. Most areas will see mostly clear skies, but a few showers could develop over the southern Bitterroot Mountains Wednesday afternoon.
