Mark of Gold is a 140-rated hurdler who has won seven times over the smaller obstacles. The seven-year-old son of Derby winner Golden Horn caught the eye when finishing second at Plumpton on Monday.

    Isuzu has been going from strength to strength in Australia in terms of sales, since the 2008 introduction of the D-Max ute and 2013 debut of the MU-X SUV. Since then, the company has enjoyed year on year growth and over 100,000 sales. Volume is slightly down compared with 2016 and that is due to some earlier supply issues, but the introduction of a revised D-Max earlier and now the MY17 MU-X brings a raft of changes that build on the car’s strengths and address some of its weaknesses.

    In the global luxury vehicle sales race, BMW is still in front of rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz, but the gap is closing. The Bavarian company sold more vehicles, however, Mercedes saw the biggest increase. BMW sold 167,584 vehicles in September, which is up by around six per cent. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz sold 162,746 vehicles last month, up 14 per cent. Sitting in third, Audi was not far behind, selling 159,950 vehicles, up by around six per cent as well.

    Toyota unveiled its all-new Yaris hot hatch earlier this year, but until now no details have been confirmed regarding the engine. Speaking about its presence at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Toyota confirmed the sporty Yaris will in fact feature a 1.8-litre supercharged four-cylinder engine producing over 153kW. This will give it decent shove against rivals such as the Volkswagen Polo GTI (141kW) and Peugeot 205 GTi (153kW).

    With the current state of affairs, it’s hard to believe Holden was once a thriving powerhouse exporting engines, CKD kits and cars to almost every corner of the globe. Holden initially started exporting vehicles in the 1950s, with the first LHD cars coming the following decade. At its peak in the mid 2000s, Holden sent several hundred thousand Family II four-cylinder and V6 engines overseas as well as over 60,000 cars in 2005.
