WHAT IS THE CURRENT KNOWLEDGE ON THE TOPIC? Physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling can be used to accelerate drug development by predicting drug concentrations in target tissues based on currently available pharmacokinetic data. WHAT QUESTION DID THIS STUDY ADDRESS? The study used PBPK modeling to assess whether the antimalarial combination therapies pyronaridine-artesunate and artesunate-amodiaquine could be repurposed for the treatment of COVID-19.
