Sometimes when you try something new you discover something wonderful. That’s just what I found when I headed out to The Links at Mass Golf to attend my first-ever Women’s Golf Day, Mass Golf’s totally free day of lessons and golf to celebrate International Women’s Golf Day. I was excited to get some pointers, make some new golf friends and maybe hit some decent shots. I got all that, sure.

Plymouth is one of the nation’s highest-producing cranberry towns, and they do it well. Plymouth is also home to the most public golf courses in the northeast, counting in at 10 public (13 total). Those, too, are top-notch. There’s a place where both of those come together as one; where green fairways mosey up against beautiful cranberry bogs; where farmers do their thing for the good of that crop right next to golfers focusing on working toward their best round.

Confession: I didn’t happily jump into the pickleball world. As a tennis player, it just didn’t speak to me. So I missed those early years, pre and during pandemic, when everyone was picking it up, when courts were open to all, no matter the level and when everyone was learning together. I got behind the pickleball, so to speak. When I realized that most of my friends were playing, I knew for the sake of my social life and sanity, I was going to have give it a try.

When you’re a super influential golf writer, you get to do cool things. That’s how I found myself on a driving range with David Leadbetter, the internationally acclaimed golf coach who has guided students to 26 major titles and an additional 100 tourneys worldwide. No need for eye-rolls: I jest. Not that I wasn’t there with Leadbetter’s total focus on my swing and my game; that really happened. Rather, this wasn’t only for the connected.

If you’re lucky enough to own a boat, you know the sheer joy of getting out on the water around Massachusetts. There’s the fresh air, the blue sea, a whale sighting from time to time, a different viewpoint of our region and best of all, that feeling of total escape without actually going too far from home. Not blessed with a boat? There’s still good news. We have a bevy of ways to get out on the ocean and enjoy it.

Now THAT’S a supportive partner 👏

Alex Fine made a great statement via Cassie’s lawyer about the narratives online about how he must feel sitting there listening to her testimony and how he saved her. He said that’s an insult to the years of painful work she did and that she saved herself. https://t.co/dzhur1EwY7

It’s like a traffic jam when you’re already late 🎶

Former RNC Chair Lara Trump says hiring people for any other reason than competence and merit does a disservice to the public: We should never be hiring anyone for any job other than the best person for that job. That should be the number one reason https://t.co/Up4cTb0eCb
