Natasha O’Brien said she didn’t expect to feel as emotional as she did when her attacker was taken away to prison after his sentencing appeal. Cathal Crotty of Parkroe Heights, Ardnacrusha, County Clare, was ordered to serve two years in prison for attacking Natasha O’Brien on O’Connell Street in Limerick in 2022. The former soldier attacked Ms O’Brien in 2022 after she called him out for shouting homophobic slurs.

A man has died after a tree fell on his car in Donegal today. At 5.30am, Gardaí were alerted to a serious car accident at Feddyglass, Raphoe, County Donegal during Storm Éowyn, where a tree fell on a car. The male driver was killed during the incident. The body of the deceased remains at the scene at this time. Gardaí are working with local authority and third party contractors to remove the body from the scene and the N14 remains closed.
