A St. Albans man has been arrested following a reported bank robbery in the town of Essex, Vermont. Essex Police responded to the M&T Bank on Sunderland Way in the town of Essex around 1:06 p.m. on Thursday. Witnesses told police an older man, wearing a red jacket and glasses, used a note demanding money. No bank employees were physically injured, and a weapon was not displayed, but the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Essex County gets state funding for first-ever accessory unit project

Two organizations in Essex County have been awarded $1.5 million for the first accessory dwelling unit program in the North Country. The North Country Rural Development Coalition and the Essex County Land Bank made the announcement Monday. The funding came from New York's Plus One ADU program to support the creation of ADUs. The self-contained residential units are typically located on the same property as a single-family home.

On Sunday afternoon, residents in Ticonderoga and surrounding areas were told to stay inside due to a "heavy police presence". Ticonderoga police issued the alert just before 4:30 p.m. NBC5 reached out to the police department Monday morning. Officials said that they couldn't share details, but that the situation was still ongoing and the shelter order was not contained to a specific area.
Vigil held for fair treatment of refugees and migrants

Dozens of people gathered in Elizabethtown on Sunday to hold a vigil for the fair treatment of refugees and immigrants.The Adirondack Friends of Refugees and Immigrants put on the event. The organization started in 2016 during the Syrian refugee crisis. Sunday, organizers said they wanted to speak out as more people are detained and green cards are revoked.

On April 11, 2025 at approximately 1:57am, South Burlington Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Swift Street that caused some power outages.Upon arrival, officers located one vehicle which had collided with and seriously damaged a utility pole. The sole occupant and registered owner of the vehicle, Benjamin Conklin, 26 y/o of Burlington, VT showed indicators of intoxication.Conklin was taken into custody and transported to the South Burlington Police Department for DUI processing.

A Malta man was fatally shot by law enforcement on Thursday after an hours-long standoff. New York State Police and Saratoga County deputies responded to an apartment complex just before 9 a.m. for a report of a physical domestic dispute. Police identified an individual involved in the dispute as Brandon Moore. Police said Moore, who lived in the apartment unit, refused to cooperate and barricaded himself inside. Law enforcement was advised that Moore may have access to firearms in the unit.
Man killed after firing a gun at New York State Police barracks

A Malta man has died after being shot by New York State Police. On Wednesday, around 1:43 p.m., police inside the Saratoga barracks said they heard gunfire originating from outside the station.Troopers immediately responded to the threat and found David Levine standing in the parking lot, armed with a long gun. Police instructed Levine to drop the firearm, but police said he refused to follow multiple commands and aimed the gun in the troopers' direction.

THE TOWN OF GEORGIA HAS PUT THROUGH THEIR BUDGET AFTER FAILING BY JUST 26 VOTES ON TOWN MEETING DAY.
