Vermont woman charged in fatal wrong-way crash

A St. Albans woman has been charged following a fatal head-on collision in North Hero. Vermont State Police, the North Hero Fire Department and Grand Isle Rescue responded to U.S. Route 2 near Savage Point Road around 1:47 p.m. Sunday. According to state police, Ellen Willson crossed the center line, entered the northbound lane of U.S. Route 2 and struck two other vehicles that were traveling northbound. One of the drivers died from his injuries on the scene.

Police have arrested a woman from Hinesburg after a high-speed chase through multiple towns and cities in Vermont. Officers of the Berlin Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop around 1:22 a.m. Friday after observing a motor vehicle operating erratically on Airport Road. According to the Berlin Police Department, the driver did not stop, fleeing at speeds of 115 mph. Berlin Police said the driver led officers on a lengthy chase through Berlin, Barre Town and Barre City.

The Burlington Police Department responded to a report of gunfire on Rose Street on Monday evening after an alleged altercation between two motorists. Police received the initial gunfire report around 10:40 p.m. According to Chief Shawn Burke, a subject fired a gun from a vehicle in the direction of another motorist during the dispute. No injuries were reported. Investigators collected ballistic evidence and conducted a neighborhood canvass.

New York State Police arrested and charged four people on Saturday for a reported kidnapping in the North Country. On May 31, state police received reports of a possible kidnapping. Police said the victim had been taken from the city of Plattsburgh to a residence in the village of Tupper Lake by multiple suspects and was being held against their will. During the altercation, police said the victim's clothing was forcibly removed, and they were choked unconscious and forced into an SUV.
