    A St. Albans man has been arrested following a reported bank robbery in the town of Essex, Vermont. Essex Police responded to the M&T Bank on Sunderland Way in the town of Essex around 1:06 p.m. on Thursday. Witnesses told police an older man, wearing a red jacket and glasses, used a note demanding money. No bank employees were physically injured, and a weapon was not displayed, but the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

    Two organizations in Essex County have been awarded $1.5 million for the first accessory dwelling unit program in the North Country. The North Country Rural Development Coalition and the Essex County Land Bank made the announcement Monday. The funding came from New York's Plus One ADU program to support the creation of ADUs.     On Sunday afternoon, residents in Ticonderoga and surrounding areas were told to stay inside due to a "heavy police presence". Ticonderoga police issued the alert just before 4:30 p.m. NBC5 reached out to the police department Monday morning. Officials said that they couldn't share details, but that the situation was still ongoing and the shelter order was not contained to a specific area.
