MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - A bipartisan group of Alabama lawmakers is turning its focus to the Black Belt region, aiming to address decades-old infrastructure and economic challenges. “I want to initiate a caucus that’s bipartisan and we can hear from the people,” said Rep. Kenyatte Hassell (D-Montgomery County). Hassell, along with Rep. Reed Ingram (R-Montgomery County, Elmore County), and 16 other state House members, formed the Black Belt Caucus during the 2025 legislative session.
