MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The Metro Area Crime Suppression (MACS) Unit is celebrating a year of measurable success in reducing violent crime in Montgomery. The multi-agency unit was formed in response to a surge in violent offenses in 2024. In its first year, the MACS Unit has made more than 3,000 traffic stops and served nearly 1,000 arrest warrants, ranging from failure to appear on traffic charges to capital murder cases. The unit also has made 429 arrests, including 30 juveniles.
