SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The wet season is over for Northern California with more focus now on warming temperatures, snowmelt and fire danger. The 2024-25 snowpack ended near average for the state. This was a rare third year for California being near average. The last time this happened was in the late 1990s. Given the rarity of a fourth wet year, it's likely more of the state will head into drought in the coming year.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) announced another increase to the State Water Project (SWP) allocation forecast for 2025. The allocation increased to 50%, up from 40% last month. This comes on the heels of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation announcing increased water supply allocations for the Central Valley Project for south-of-Delta agricultural contractors from 40% to 50%. Much of these increases are due to real-time winter runoff filling area reservoirs.
