    Three former prep Rutherford County baseball players earned all-TCCAA honors for their play on the diamond at the junior college level this past season. Sophomores Cade Hitson, formerly of Riverdale, and Devyn McEachron, formerly of Stewarts Creek, both earned first-team accolades. Tyler Casserly, a former MTCS Cougar and a freshman earned, second-team honors. Casserly starred at Southwest Tennessee and played in 52 games hit .348 with three home runs and 23 runs batted in.

    Goetzinger named CCS Rookie of WeekGoetzingerJacey Goetzinger, former Central Magnet Tiger softball pitcher now a freshman at Maryville College, was named Rookie of the Week by the Collegiate Conference of the South. She has made nine starts this season as she was limited by an arm injury but went 6-3 with a 3.11 ERA to lead the team. Goetzinger also leads the Scots with three complete games.

    Oakland goalie Ryeden Chapman stops a Rockvale attempt at Oakland Friday night. JIM DAVISRockvale’s soccer team came out sluggish in the opening half at Oakland on Friday night but scored a pair of goals late in the second half in a period of three to four minutes to win 2-1.  The Rockets closed out district play 6-1-1 and go to 11-4-1 overall.
