CARSON NEWMAN ATHLETICSFormer Rockvale two-sport star Oluwatimi Williams (football, track and field) finished his freshman year at Carson Newman University by becoming an All-American at the recent NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Pueblo, Colorado.

    Chesterfield transfers to MarshallChesterfieldFormer Oakland and Tusculum basketball player NiKiah Chesterfield has transferred to Marshall University. She will be a junior and have two years of eligibility remaining. Chesterfield led the team in scoring (18.6) and rebounding (6.3) a game. Divens headed to BethelFormer Blackman and Trevecca basketball player Isaiah Divens -Blackman  has transferred to Bethel University in McKenzie. He played in 10 games last season, averaging 1.4 points.

Competition was delayed for a day as rainstorms pushed through the area. It had then TSSAA scrambling and rescheduling, making fans, players and coaches wait for their first assignment on their respective fields.

    Three former prep Rutherford County baseball players earned all-TCCAA honors for their play on the diamond at the junior college level this past season. Sophomores Cade Hitson, formerly of Riverdale, and Devyn McEachron, formerly of Stewarts Creek, both earned first-team accolades. Tyler Casserly, a former MTCS Cougar and a freshman earned, second-team honors. Casserly starred at Southwest Tennessee and played in 52 games hit .348 with three home runs and 23 runs batted in.
