OWASSO, Okla. — A local woman is expressing her concerns about the Owasso Animal Shelter's intake procedures after she stated two stray dogs recently brought to the shelter weren't given a reasonable chance to be adopted. Sky Poorboy, an Owasso resident and animal rescue volunteer, said she's had ongoing concerns about the shelter that have only grown after several stray dogs were picked up by Owasso Animal Control near her home.

UPDATE (6/4/25) — Tulsa Police released body cam footage of the arrest of a man who allegedly led officers on a chase earlier this year. Police said Michael Lee Spear led them on a chase after a traffic stop near 51st and Union on Jan. 23. According to TPD, after officers stopped Spear, he told them he was a sovereign citizen and refused to comply, leading to a scuffle with officers firing shots. Police chased Spears into Sand Springs where he took off into a wooded area.
