More concerns are being raised about a Winnipeg landlord renting what some claim are low-quality rentals at high prices creating problems for vulnerable tenants, but the landlord says Manitoba's Residential Tenancies Branch is the body to rule on concerns tenants have brought forward about the properties. A home on Alfred Avenue was supposed to be a fresh start for a First Nations family of seven, but when the family saw the residence first-hand, they described it as walking into a house from hell, refusing to bring their children into the rundown property. Looking for a home close to her grandmother in Winnipeg's North End, Samantha Zebrasky signed a one year lease with Ember Realty Group Ltd. with some support from Jordan's Principle.

It's a story of rebirth and healing and now it's in ink forever. A well-known tattoo-removal expert in Winnipeg, who has removed hundreds of tattoos from gang members in and out of jail, has released a book about her life. "It was part of the healing journey," said Della Steinke, who penned the new work with the help of author Kevin Zdrill. Called, Mothering to Mother Ink, Steinke says the story details her life from childhood to tattoo removal expert, and she hopes it helps others.

Winnipeg Jets fans can rejoice. That's because the return of the Whiteout Street Parties is upon us. True North Sports and Entertainment announced Tuesday that 5,000 fans will be able to converge on Donald Street, between Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue. "The Winnipeg Whiteout Street Parties have become part of our city's Whiteout traditions," said Kevin Donnelly, True North's Senior Vice President of Venues and Entertainment, in a news release.
