Minneapolis police are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing woman. 50-year-old Sylvia Ann Daniels was last seen at a family gathering around 2:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Authorities say she left the family gathering and walked westbound on 14th Street from Nicollet Avenue. Daniels has Alzheimer’s, dementia and asthma. Police say she may be confused and disoriented. She lives in St. Paul and isn’t familiar with Minneapolis. Daniels is 5’02” and has a thin build.

A 45-year-old will spend around 10 years (125 months) in prison for selling fentanyl to a man who fatally overdosed in March of 2024. John Ryan Radoush, of Shakopee, was convicted of and sentenced for one count of murder in the third-degree. As previously reported, the victim was found unconscious and not breathing in a home in Louisville Township. Despite first responders and family giving him up to nine doses of Narcan and CPR, he was pronounced deceased.

Hours of negotiations but still no budget agreementGovernor Tim Walz and Minnesota legislative leaders have met for more than 13 hours over several sessions on Sunday and Monday, but still, no substantial progress on the state budget has been reported. “There’s no doubt we’re at the 11th hour here,” Walz said Monday morning.

It already feels like summer, and if you hit the lakes and the beaches, you might notice there is already algae on the water in some locations. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has been getting calls about it, but they don’t start regular water testing until around Memorial Day. “If it looks like green, wet wool or cotton candy, it is probably green algae, which is not toxic,” said Rachel Crabb, Water Resources Supervisor for the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board.

A 43-year-old man was sentenced last week to serve probation in connection with a standoff in Stearns County in April of 2024. Anthony Joseph Van Kirk was sentenced to 18 months in prison. The sentence is stayed for the duration of his five-year probation. Van Kirk was also sentenced to 125 days in Stearns County Jail, but had credit for 125 days already served. As previously reported, a woman called police and said Van Kirk had locked her out of the apartment.
