Moorhead police are seeking the public’s help to find a missing 16-year-old. Dade Badar was reported missing on March 14 and hasn’t been seen since. He is 5’10” and weighs 160 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Dade was last known to be wearing a black jacket, gray shirt and black jeans. An unresponsive man was pulled from Basset Creek Wednesday afternoon, the Minneapolis Fire Department said. Fire crews responded to a report of a man being face-down in the water at Basset Creek Park around 1:43 p.m. A 911 caller was able to pull the man out of the water and onto an embankment. When crews got to the scene, they found the man unresponsive with “inadequate” breathing and began CPR. They also administered Narcan, fire officials said.

A man was convicted on two counts in connection with a shooting outside a celebration of life in St. Paul in February of 2023. John Lee Edmondson, 54, was found guilty of one count of second-degree murder and one count of illegal firearm possession. He was acquitted of two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder. As previously reported, 37-year-old Troy Kennedy and 34-year-old Larry Jiles Jr. were killed in the shooting on Feb. 25, 2023. Three others were injured.

A registered sex offender has been federally charged with attempted coercion and enticement of a minor, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney’s Office. Marwan Adel Taweeleh, 31, was also charged with committing an offense as a registered sex offender. He was required to register as a sex offender after previously being convicted of soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct. Prosecutors add that he tried to entice a minor for sexual conduct on March 18.

City Council Member Emily Koski announced on Monday morning she is dropping out of the race for Minneapolis mayor. In a news release, Koski said her decision “comes after deep reflection on the challenges of running an authentic, community-focused campaign within Minneapolis’ current political climate.”“But I’ve come to a hard truth: under the current political climate, I can’t be my authentic self and be a candidate in this race the way it demands,” she said in a statement.

Farmington police are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 44-year-old. Chad Vanhemert left his home early Wednesday morning and then missed an appointment later that day. There is concern for Vanhemert’s mental health and well-being, authorities said. He is 5’06” and weighs 170 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. A former high school teacher was sentenced Wednesday to six years in federal prison for distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Fifty-four-year-old Daniel Janke of Mankato pleaded guilty to the charge in October. Janke must also pay $18,000 in restitution to be used for special assessments for minors impacted by child sex abuse crimes.

Student and Exchange Visitor Information System(SEVIS) records for international students at St. Cloud State University and Metro State were terminated. St. Cloud State says that two international students’ SEVIS records were terminated by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Metro State added that one of its international students also had their SEVIS records terminated. Both schools say they weren’t notified ahead of the terminations.
