I write these words an hour or so after our youngest son Eyal’s graduation tonight from his yeshiva high school, Torah Academy of Bergen County (TABC), and the formal end of our family’s eight-year continuous run as TABC parents.

Forum addresses antisemitism, Israel and local politics. This past Sunday, the Bergen County Jewish Action Committee (BCJAC) hosted New Jersey Democratic Congressman and gubernatorial candidate Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) and New York Congressman Ritchie Torres (NY-15) in Teaneck for a meet-and-greet event to discuss issues related to the upcoming campaign for governor of New Jersey, as well as the rise of antisemitism, support for Israel, and the current state of the Democratic Party.

This past rainy Monday evening, I made a relatively rare work trip into Manhattan for a unique business and networking dinner at one of Manhattan’s newer high-end kosher restaurants, Bonito 47. (As I used to work in midtown for well over a decade, it’s amazing to me how infrequently I actually go into midtown today and especially for work. Growing up, midtown Manhattan was the center of the business universe). However, this wasn’t an ordinary dinner.

This past Monday, my wife and I attended our final varsity basketball game as parents of our youngest but tallest son, Eyal. This was no ordinary game. It was the championship game of the YU-sponsored 2025 Red Sarachek National Tournament with 20 teams from around North America competing for the bragging rights to be called the best yeshiva high school basketball team on the continent.

Last Thursday, I got up a little early and traveled with a bit less than a minyan of fellow New Jersey Jewish businesspeople and lawyers and participated in the annual New Jersey Jewish Business Alliance (NJJBA) mission to Trenton. While our paper and its pages have featured many NJJBA events and missions over the years and I have personally been to many, I had never gone to our state capital for such a mission, and I felt the time had come for me to make a proper visit.
