The Kwara State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) says it has arrested a suspected kidnapper involved in the abduction of a mother and her two sons. The suspect, identified as Abu Umar, was said to be a member of the syndicate involved in the abduction of Isiaka Halimah and her two sons, Kabir and Hassan. The incident happened last November in the Gidanrogo area of Ajase-Ipo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

The Kwara State Government has warned beneficiaries of the starter packs Youth Transformation Programme (YTP) from actions that would debar other Nigerians opportunity of the items in the country. The warning was handed down in Ilorin at the weekend during the distribution of starter packs to the graduates of the YTP midwife by National Hydro-electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC).

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has suspended Alhaji Isiaka Ishola Bolakale from his position as Daudu Yekelu Idi Adan of Ilorin Emirate. City & Crime reports that the suspension is to last for a period of three months. The decision was conveyed in a letter dated November 21, 2024 and signed by the Secretary to the Ilorin Emirate Council, Alhaji S. A. Lawal.

The legendary Fuji Musician, Kolawole Rasaq Ilori, popularly known as General Kollington Ayinla, has described how the Nigerian Army forced him into music. No fewer than 35 clubs from Ilorin and its environs are currently taking part in the 2nd edition of the Emir of Ilorin Football Competition. The championship, which is organised by the Ilorin Emirate Football Councils, led by Alhaji Abdulrazaq Owolabi Wopa, was initiated to celebrate the 29th coronation anniversary of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari. The draw for this year's edition was held at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

The Area Controller of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Kwara State, Faith Matthew Ojeifo, says the ban on importation of vehicles and border closure has crippled the command of its major revenue sources. He disclosed this on Wednesday in Ilọrin at a stakeholders' meeting attended by the Assistant Comptroller-General of the NCS, Sambo DanGaladima. Daily Trust reports that this is the first time a Zonal Coordinator will visit the command since its creation in 2019.

The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has appointed Prof. Medinat Salman as the pioneer vice chancellor of the newly established Kwara State University of Education (KWSUED), Ilorin. The appointment, the government said, is with immediate effect. City & Crime reports that Salman is the first female professor from the Ilorin Emirate appointed in 2018. She will serve in an acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive vice chancellor for the new institution.

The Kwara Concerned Group has raised concern over the continuous closure of the General Tunde Idiagbon flyover several months after its completion. Daily Trust reports that the flyover is situated in Tanke, Ilọrin South Local Government Area of the state, with a large student population. The group, which consists of residents of Tanke and environs, made the call while addressing newsmen on the facility in Ilọrin.
