4 EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES Fungal and bacterial strains and plant materials The Pst CYR32 was used in this study. For rust inoculation, urediniospores of virulent race CYR32 were produced on the second leaf of wheat variety Mingxian 169 at 12 ± 2°C for 16 h in the light and 8 h in the dark. For agro-infiltration, Agrobacterium tumefaciens GV3101 was used. This strain was usually grown in lysogenic broth (LB) at 28°C.
