    MARION, S.C. – MarCo Rural Water Company board members made a donation of $4,000 to the William and Alexander Fore Scholarship on Tuesday. Board President Charles Collins and MarCo Rural Water general manager Robert Winkler made the presentation to the nonprofit organization named in honor of U.S. Army casualties of the Vietnam War from Marion. William Cecil Fore and Alexander Fore were killed in 1967. Organizer R.R. Harris said Marion High School college bound seniors are eligible for the awards.

    MARION, S.C. — Marion baseball coach Hal Lambert and Mullins baseball coach Mullins coach Johnathan Elliott had their two teams meet this week in a pair of home and home rivalry games but the match-up also allowed the two junior varsity squads to get in on the action and help improve the programs. Lambert and the Swamp Foxes are off to a 5-3 start and 4-0 in region play. “We graduated nine players but got a few that came back,” Lambert said of the team.

    MARION, S.C. – Marion City Council recognized their clerk of her hard work in and out of the office during Tuesday’s meeting. Lakesha Shannon was named City Employee of the Month for helping to organize a black history program last month at the C.D. Joyner Auditorium. “The event truly honored the rich history, culture and contributions of African Americans in the city of Marion,” she said.

    MARION, S.C. -- Marion baseball coach Hal Lambert and the Swamp Foxes return to Fox Field last week with a trio of games against Loris and Kingstree. The team is off to a 3-2 start with two straight wins in region play after defeating Kingstree in a double-header 10-4 and 13-3. Marion suffered an 18-0 loss at home to Loris Wednesday and opened the season down 17-1 against Johnsonville following up with a 16-1 win over Hannah Pamplico.
