MARION, S.C. — Marion baseball coach Hal Lambert and Mullins baseball coach Mullins coach Johnathan Elliott had their two teams meet this week in a pair of home and home rivalry games but the match-up also allowed the two junior varsity squads to get in on the action and help improve the programs. Lambert and the Swamp Foxes are off to a 5-3 start and 4-0 in region play. “We graduated nine players but got a few that came back,” Lambert said of the team.

MARION, S.C. — The Greater Marion Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Holiday Prelude and Christmas Parade on Main Street Sunday. Marion Mayor Ashley Brady called it a wonderful tree lighting and fireworks show for the public. Marion’s Amazing Grace Park will feature more family fun with Graceful Glimmers Friday at 6 p.m. The event includes hot cocoa, cookie decorating, scavenger hunt and Christmas movie presentation on the big screen.

MARION, S.C. — Officials with the Historic Marion Revitalization Association expect a crowd for the 13th annual Chilli Cook-off at Main Street Common on Feb. 25. More than 300 people attended last year for the event that also features the Olde Towne Marion Cornhole Tournament. Cooking teams will be competing for up to $1,700 in prize money. A portion of the proceeds raised go to the HMRA façade grant program that helps fund upgrades to Main Street buildings.
