Expect a chance of storms every day through the weekend. Why it matters: It's severe weather season in North Texas, which could bring damaging hail, high winds and tornadoes. At least 37 tornadoes have been recorded this year statewide, a drop from the number seen by this time last spring. Driving the news: Nine tornadoes touched down west of Fort Worth over Easter weekend, the National Weather Service confirmed. One was classified an EF-2, with wind gusts up to 135mph. The others had lower ratings.

The Horned Frogs are jumping the pond to open the 2026 football season in Dublin. Why it matters: The sporting event gives TCU a chance to advertise itself — and Fort Worth — internationally. Driving the news: The TCU football team will play North Carolina on Aug. 29, 2026, at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, university officials announced yesterday. The game will be the first time either team has played abroad. Context: 2026 will be a big year for the Horned Frogs on the international stage.

DFW Airport will offer its first nonstop flight to Taipei in October. The latest: EVA Air will run three flights a week from Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan's capital city to DFW starting Oct. 3, airport officials announced yesterday. It's one of several new international flights launching from DFW. Cathay Pacific begins nonstop flights to Hong Kong this month — an 8,123-mile journey.

Around 22% of Texans identify as Catholic, per data from Pew Research Center. The big picture: Pew surveyed 35,000 Americans in all 50 states in 2007, 2014 and 2023-24 about their religious affiliations, beliefs and practices. An estimated 62% of Americans identify as Christian, the survey found. Zoom in: 60% of adults in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro identify as Christian. 14% identify as Catholic. The region has dozens of Catholic churches.
