Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) has passed away following his fight with cancer, his family announced on Wednesday.
The lawmaker announced his initial diagnosis with esophageal cancer more than six months ago. He was 75 years old.
“It is with immense sadness that we share that our devoted and loving father, husband, brother, friend, and public servant, Congressman Gerald E. Connolly, passed away peacefully at his home this morning surrounded by family,” his family announced in a statement.

Judge Sidney Stein sentenced disgraced former Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez (N.J.) to 11 years in prison on Wednesday, concluding his trial for a “long-running bribery and foreign influence scheme of rare gravity.”
Menendez was convicted in July of 16 felony counts for the long-running corruption scheme following a nine-week trial. Dozens of witnesses testified, including one of the businessmen involved in the scheme.
His sentencing marks a dramatic fall for the lawmaker.

The Biden administration announced on Tuesday that it will remove Cuba from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism (SST) in exchange for the release of political prisoners. The Trump administration previously placed the SST designation on Cuba in the last week of the president-elect’s first term, and Biden officials said they are in contact with the Trump transition team over their action.

In a Truth Social post, President-elect Trump said that he was “hearing that the people of Greenland are ‘MAGA’.” The Republican attached a video that purportedly shows a Greenlander asking the U.S. to buy his country.
“If you could tell Trump anything, what would it be?” a woman is heard asking the man in the video.
“Buy us. Buy Greenland,” the man, who was wearing a MAGA hat, replied.

President-elect Donald Trump told NBC News anchor Kristen Welker he would be open to prosecuting President Joe Biden if “I find something that I think is reasonable.”
Trump sat for an exclusive interview that aired on Sunday morning’s
