MIDDLEBURY – The Planning and Zoning Commission, meeting April 3, approved an application submitted by Edward G. Fitzpatrick/Middlebury Land Development LLC for a site plan for a 171,600 sq. ft. warehouse facility at 1535 Straits Turnpike. Commissioners also approved a separate application for excavation and grading at the site. Chairman Terry Smith said the application had met all of the requirements in the regulations and not one item was off.

SOUTHBURY – The Zoning Commission did not take any votes on applications at last Wednesday’s meeting. The first application on the agenda was new and will be discussed further next month. The second application was withdrawn. The third application, the one everyone in the audience was there to hear, was tabled due to lack of a quorum of available members.

SEYMOUR – Electors at the Annual Town Meeting, held on April 2, 2025, voted to further reduce the Board of Education budget before it is sent to a referendum vote on April 17, 2025. The vote will be conducted from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Seymour Community Center, 20 Pine St.The original call of the meeting was to consider the 2025-26 budget as recommended by the Board of Finance, with town revenues and expenses set at $69,240,115.

The recognition was celebrated during the Board of Education’s meeting last Monday, April 7, 2025. MIDDLEBURY – The Board of Selectmen’s meeting last Monday, April 7, quickly turned somewhat acrimonious as a discussion erupted first over the Greenway Committee appointments and then over an FOIA complaint over a signature stamp. Selectman Jennifer Mahr said Patricia Lindenman had said she wanted to stay in her seat, and the Democratic Town Committee also recommended her. Instead, the board voted to appoint Karen Rotella to fill the expired term of Ms. Lindenman.
