Whether an employer can take disciplinary action against an employee for misconduct outside of the workplace has long been a fraught topic. Generally speaking, an employee may be dismissed for misconduct that occurs outside of the workplace, and outside of working hours, if there is a link between the employee's conduct and their employment. However, in recent years we have seen employers grappling with how to apply this rule to employees' behaviour on social media.

Here, we present and discuss a spatiotemporal framework that could be used to distil population genomic variation into thematic layers of genomic susceptibility that are relevant to conservation. In this brief opinion paper, we prescribe no specific methodological approach as to how this should occur but rather provide a conceptual overview of why we think it could be useful.

In a resounding victory for the First Amendment, a federal district court ruled in favor of Reverend Patrick Mahoney, safeguarding his—and all Americans’—free speech rights on the U.S. Capitol Grounds. You can read more about Rev. Mahoney’s case here. The court’s opinion means that Rev. Mahoney is now free to pray and peacefully demonstrate in this area that the Capitol Police once arbitrarily deemed off limits to Rev. Mahoney.
