The women of Washington County Animal Control advocate for animals throughout the county and educate the community on animal welfare. In their opinion, many people view them as just a dog-catcher but they are much more than that. As the only ACOs in the county, Nichole O’Brien and TJ Kerr single-handedly respond to all animal-related calls. “I have roped an emu on the side of the road before; you never know what you will walk into,” said Kerr.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 63-year-old Chipley man has died after a fatal accident on US 231 in Jackson County. Next of kin has been notified. Driver one, driving a blue Suzuki, is from Panama City. Driver two, traveling in a red ford, is from Bonifay and his passenger was from Chipley. Vehicle one was east on the driveway access for 2839 US 231 approaching the southbound lanes of US 231.

The Chipley Police Department (CPD) has released a statement regarding the pursuit after gunfire was heard in Chipley. Three individuals are in custody in relation to this event that occurred last night. On October 24, at approximately 6:08 p.m., Chipley Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Church Street and Deermont Circle in Chipley.
