“Fuck Donald Trump! Fuck Elon Musk! Fuck Zuckerberg! Fuck big tech!” These cries, led by a group of protestors and supportive passersby, rang across Wilson Quad on the afternoon of Thursday Jan. 23. Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) held the rally to protest the incoming Trump administration. Held in the days following President Trump’s inauguration, the rally featured a combination of prepared speeches, calls to action, an open forum, and chanting.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, the @Rochester daily newsletter announced that Anne-Marie Algier was named Dean of Students and Associate Vice President for University Student Life. Algier has worked with the University since 1991 and has held the position with interim status since 2023, according to her LinkedIn profile. A recent University news article stated that she plans to use the position to build a collaborative student life team and connect the University’s different schools.

Golden light spilled from the suspended light fixtures of Eastman’s Kilbourne Hall, bathing the auditorium in a welcoming, enveloping glow. Precisely at 7:30 p.m., this glow retreated as the hall lights dimmed, centering all attention onto the raised stage. It was the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 2, and little did I know I was about to bear witness to a demonstration of chaotic beauty unlike any I had seen before.
