The death of an Australian tourist on a snorkelling boat that capsized near Bali has once again raised concerns over boat safety for tourists. Anna Blight was among 13 passengers aboard the Sea Dragon 2, a snorkelling boat making its way from Bali to the popular Nusa Penida island on Friday, when a large wave capsized the vessel, local police said. The passengers were thrown overboard.

An Australian couple are stranded on a small Indonesian island after their yacht's engine failed and the vessel was pushed onto a reef in wild weather. Catherine Delves and Peter Watt had been en route to Borneo to see the orangutans when "everything went a bit pear-shaped" and their 26-ton yacht ran aground off Gili Iyang in the Bali Sea this week. "We're going to be here a while, I think," Ms Delves told the ABC from a local fisherman's home.

A university student was getting ready for church on Christmas Eve in Indonesia when a man snuck into her apartment to carry out an attack that would scar her for life. As she stepped out of the shower with a towel around her torso, the man allegedly poured acid over her face and body. "Then the victim screamed, screamed loudly, and the perpetrator immediately ran away," said Probo Satrio, the head of Yogyakarta Police's Criminal Investigation Department.
