One Husker is headed to the NCAA outdoor championships for the first time. Another will be making her fourth trip. That’s Berlyn Schutz and Jenna Rogers, who are two of 12 Nebraska track and field athletes who qualified for nationals over four days at the NCAA Preliminary Round meet in College Station, Texas. Schutz, a Lincoln East graduate, punched her ticket with a school-record time of 4 minutes, 11.01 seconds in the 1,500-meter run Saturday.

The Nebraska softball team rolled through the Baton Rouge Regional over the weekend, going 3-0 and outscoring opponents 32-3 to advance to its first Super Regional since 2014. Next up for the Huskers (42-13, 17-5 Big Ten) is a trip to Knoxville, Tennessee, to play the No. 7 Volunteers (43-14, 15-9 SEC) in a best-of-three, head-to-head series. Tennessee went 3-0 at its regional, defeating Ohio State on Sunday to earn a spot in the Super Regional round.

Jordy Bahl on Monday became the first player in Nebraska softball history to be named a top-three finalist for the USA Softball/ESPN Player of the Year award. Joining Bahl as finalists are Arkansas’ Bri Ellis and Texas Tech’s NiJaree Canady. Canady won the award last season as a member of Stanford. Bahl was a top-10 finalist twice while at Oklahoma. It's the latest recognition for Bahl, who was named Big Ten Pitcher and Player of the Year earlier this month.
