    Charlie Thorne won the 100-meter dash, 400, 300 hurdles and ran the anchor on Lincoln Southeast's winning 1,600-meter relay for a four-gold day at the A-1 district meet in Norfolk. Thorne will head to Omaha as the favorite in the 400 and 300 hurdles, and will give Southeast a chance in the relay as the Knights try to bring home a trophy from next week's state tournament. Southeast on Tuesday scored 141 points to win the district title by 10 over Elkhorn South.

    OMAHA — Omaha South stunned Lincoln Southwest by scoring three goals in a 2½-minute stretch of the second half to beat the Silver Hawks 5-2 in the first round of the Class A boys state tournament on Tuesday. That outburst was part of five straight goals for third-ranked South, after No. 4 Southwest was sitting pretty with a 2-0 lead late in the first half. Dylan Holden and Jose Rodriguez each scored two goals for the Packers, with Jolvin Albeno also scoring.

    In a bizarre set of votes Tuesday that came mere hours apart, Nebraska lawmakers moved to provide paid sick leave to more than 25,000 workers — and then changed their minds. Lawmakers have for months been mulling changes to the state's new sick leave law that nearly 75% of Nebraska voters approved last fall, which required employers with fewer than 20 workers to offer at least five days of paid sick leave per year and employers with 20+ workers to offer at least seven paid days of leave annually.
