    USC will likely see an acceptance rate of about 10% for the Class of 2029, according to preliminary statistics from the Office of Admission. Last year, the University accepted roughly 9.2% of applicants. The University received about 83,000 applicants for the incoming Fall 2025 freshman class, just over half of which were on the early action track. That’s up 1,000 applicants last year.

    The University is slashing the Daily Trojan’s budget, and we’re not allowed to do anything about it. It’s not for a lack of effort, but because the University refuses to give us a seat at our own table. While students control the editorial content of the paper, we have no control of our finances. In fact, we have never seen the Daily Trojan’s budget. At the start of this semester, we were told we may no longer be able to print daily.

    It is Nov. 9, 2016, and I wake up for school at 7 a.m. after going to sleep just six hours earlier, an anxious mess. I checked my phone and confirmed: Donald Trump will be the 45th president of the United States. I am fearful for myself and so many others because I have heard what he says about anyone who isn’t like him: white, cishet, conservative and Christian. It is Nov. 9, 2024, and I am writing this article.

    There was a time when 2024 looked like a golden opportunity for Microsoft’s Xbox. I’ve never considered getting its latest console, the Xbox Series X, but I still thought 2024 could be “the year of Xbox” as recently as March. Let’s set the scene. Sony, despite the success of the PlayStation 5, announced upfront that they would not release any big-budget exclusives this year — which is kind of like Disney announcing that they wouldn’t be releasing any animated movies.
