Being a young professional in Lincoln doesn’t always involve going to meetings in suits. Sometimes it means getting your hands dirty. Amy Svoboda, who works at Lincoln Electric System, was among a number of members of the Lincoln Young Professionals Group who planted trees at Mahoney Park in northeast Lincoln on Tuesday, close to where Svoboda grew up. Svoboda said she’s lucky LES sees value in having her work with the group.

A Lincoln brewery has been zipping through projects of late — and has more planned. Zipline Brewing Co.'s latest venture is a new, rebuilt taproom at its brewery in west Lincoln. Last week, Zipline had a soft reopening for the taproom, which replaced a previous bar space that was taken out two years ago following renovations at the brewery at 2100 Magnum Circle, off West O Street.

Nebraska’s unemployment rate retreated slightly after hitting 3.0% for the first time in years, while Lincoln’s rate rose again. In March, unemployment dropped back to 2.9% after reaching 3.0% for the first time since 2020, according to the Nebraska Department of Labor. The rate is still higher than a year ago when the unemployment rate was 2.6%. Lincoln’s unemployment rate reached 3.2% in February, which is the latest month with available data. In January, the rate was 3.0% and 2.4% in December.
