    One of the most difficult challenges in the restoration of the Oneida Stake Academy Building has been getting the roof in a condition to efficiently and persistently shed water. Its shape and age have been a challenge to address, not just during this restoration process, but throughout its life. “Our restoration and rehabilitation efforts have uncovered many solutions employed by the building’s caretakers over the last century,” said John Olsen, board member of the Oneida Stake Academy Foundation.

When complete, it will be a cultural center and museum of local history for the people of Preston and Franklin County. “It’s a jewel. It’s like you go mining and you find that gem in the dirt and polish it up,” said Larry Stokes, owner of Stokes Market.

    To improve accessibility to the sport of bowling, a new ramp has been constructed by Jake Johnson through a grant from the Franklin County Heathcare Foundation (FCHF). This nonprofit organization was started as an effort to improve the mental, emotional, and physical health in Franklin County, said its director Kyley Buttars. The new metal ramp replaces a rickety wooden one used to stabilize bowling balls for bowlers.
