According to several recent studies, almost half them are also making up qualifications on their job applications and resumes. Some of the people surveyed admitted to telling big lies - listing fake jobs at fake companies - while others confessed to exaggerating details like the length of time employed or special skills they possess, such as technology and language.

One morning, while I was driving north on Moreland Avenue near I-20, a sedan swerved in front of me, causing me to slam on the brakes. As I laid on the horn and shot a dirty look through the windshield, I saw the distinctive license plate indicating the car belonged to a certain state senator. It was a reminder that Atlanta’s horrible traffic affects everyone, even someone with the power to do something about it.

A loud cheer erupted in the hallway of the JW Marriott in Buckhead where hundreds of women lined up for entry into the Phoenix Ballroom. I couldn’t see through the throngs of people, but I would later learn that the high-pitched screams, the kind which are generally reserved for musicians or movie stars, were instead offered to a writer of women’s fiction.

Women dressed in black and white swarmed the entrance of Brasserie Margot at the Four Seasons last Wednesday. Lisa Kaye Rayner, a journalist and public relations professional, wound her way through the crowd of women - a sea of fascinators, sequins and high heels - who had gathered to celebrate her birthday and the release of her memoir, "Shelf Life of a Trophy Wife."Rayner said the book had been brewing for years.
