The parents of New Zealand’s most remarkably gifted student and youngest university graduate are selling their Auckland house to remain with their son at Oxford University, where he is completing a PhD in environmental science. Maths whizz Tristan Pang made headlines a decade ago when, at the age of 12, he enrolled at Auckland University. Two years later he was a tutor at the university, and at the age of 17, he had graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics.

An abandoned convent once investigated for paranormal activity has hit the market for sale for the first time in 20 years. Owner Graham Harkness told OneRoof he bought the former convent at 346 Great South Road, in Huntly, Waikato, on a whim. He now hopes a new owner can complete his vision and turn the heritage-listed property into an eye-catching home. Harkness, a farmer from Taupiri, remembers meeting the nuns from St Anthony’s Convent, years before he bought the building.

The owners of a three-bedroom home on Waiheke Island sold it for $2.344 million at the end of October, just eight months after they bought it for $2.11m. Listing agent Francine Sweet, from New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty, told OneRoof the owners’ decision to take the home to auction paid off. She had pitched the property to “savvy visionaries”, declaring in the listing that for every dollar spent “you might take two out”.
