Retail meat highlights for the month:New records for meat department dollars and pounds were set in 2024. 2024 ended up being a strong year for grocery retailers, with total food and beverage sales of $922 billion. Sales rose 3.0% in dollars and 1.3% in units. Everyday demand was strong due to purchasing restaurant food less often while cooking more in an effort to save money.

Apparently, the activists (like sports fans) decide this’ll be the year for real change to occur – and they want to let us know about it. That brings me to CleanTechnica. Year In ReviewMost producers are generally feeling (very) positive about the business. That’s not surprising given what happened in the markets in 2024 (and 2025 has started with a new all-time high). The fed market averaged $187 for the year –up ~$11/cwt versus 2023.
