The landmark paper by Chaudhry et al.1 elegantly demonstrates the early survival advantages seen with kidney transplantation versus remaining on the waiting list. However, the authors of this letter feel that conclusions regarding increased time to benefit in ethnic minorities are not supported by the data presented. Chaudhry et al.1 conclude that ‘the benefit of living longer with a kidney transplant was delayed for older people and those who were Asian or black’.
