The need to prioritize urgent COVID-19-related care has resulted in a backlog across non-COVID-19 services, and the number of patients waiting for hospital treatment in England reached a record level of over 7 million in December 20222.

AbstractThis study aims to evaluate the cost effectiveness of genetic and genomic testing strategies for the diagnosis of rare developmental disorders in NHS Scotland. Six genetic and genomic testing strategies were evaluated using a decision tree model. First-line, second-line and last-resort trio genome sequencing (GS), and second-line and last-resort trio exome sequencing (ES) were compared with standard genetic testing.

Datasets for active chromatin marks were obtained from published and publicly available sources. DHS [35, 36] and DNase footprints [13, 27] were obtained from ENCODE. H3K27ac was obtained from GTRD [32, 33] and dbInDel [43, 67]. Human ChIP-seq and ATAC-seq datasets were obtained from GTRD [32, 33]. Enhancer RNAs were obtained from the PINTS portal [22, 44]. These data sources provide uniformly analyzed datasets for downstream analysis.

Pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) remains the only curative-intent treatment option for fit patients with a resectable pancreatic head adenocarcinoma (PDAC), ampullary adenocarcinoma (AA) or distal cholangiocarcinoma (CC). It is a major operation that is associated with high morbidity1 and mortality2 rates. Cancer recurrence is common after PD, particularly in patients with PDAC, and only around one in five achieves 5-year survival3,4.
