Aside from Oisín Gallen’s county senior commitments, Donegal u-20 players Sean Martin (captain), Conor McGinty and Ruairí Callaghan missed the earlier games.

10 YEARS AGOIT was an emotional day for Fermanagh hurling as they won the Lory Meagher Cup and dedicated the win to their player Shane Mulholland. Erne captain JP McGarry spoke of Mulholland’s impact in his victory speech with the player dying in a car crash earlier in the year. Fermanagh won the contest 3-16 to 1-17 with 3-5 at the end of the first half proving decisive – Declan McGarry scoring twice and Sean Corrigan also on target. There was less joy for other Ulster teams at Croke Park.

WHEN the draws were made I, like many others, had a stab at who I thought would top each group and who would go through. We all do it but I have no problem admitting that I made an absolute hames of the whole thing. These group games have blown the championship wide open and at this stage you would be forgiven for admitting that you haven’t a clue who will win Sam. When we cast our mind back a few weeks the main front runners were Galway and Donegal.
