President Trump is pumping the brakes, at least for the moment, on direct U.S. engagement in Israel’s assault on Iran. On Thursday, Trump determined that he would make a “decision on whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” according to a statement read by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Trump had also determined there was “a chance for substantial negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future,” Leavitt said.

Tremors spread though the political world on Monday after the weekend’s fatal shooting of a Democratic lawmaker and her spouse in Minnesota, and another shooting, allegedly by the same perpetrator, that injured a second lawmaker and his wife. The suspect, Vance Boelter, 57, was apprehended late Sunday. He faces murder charges in state courts. On Monday, federal prosecutors also charged him with murder. (The Hill) – Chaotic scenes in which Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) was pressed to the ground and handcuffed by federal agents set the political world aflame on Thursday. Padilla had come to a news conference being held by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, raising his voice to ask questions. Agents, reportedly including at least one member of Noem’s official security detail, swarmed Padilla, moving him to a corridor before pressing him to the ground and placing the handcuffs on him.
