Asylum seeker advocates have raised concerns about the welfare of detainees at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre following reports of a fire breaking out at the facility. Australian Border Force, which manages the detention centre in Broadmeadows, said a small blaze started in a common area at the centre at around 2am on Thursday. "Emergency services were called and the blaze was extinguished, with detainees moved to a different compound at the facility," an ABF spokesperson said.
