HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - After a very active week of weather - including thunderstorms with tornado warnings, flooding, wind and rain - things will calm down this week, after the passage of a cold front. However, this cold front has driven very chilly air over the region. Temperatures started in the lower and middle 30s this morning over our area, whereas upper 20s and lower 30s will be fairly common during the morning hours of tomorrow.

(WSAZ) - High pressure continues to develop cooler fall like conditions over the region. With the northerly winds continuing as a result of this high pressure, we’ll continue to see highs in the 70s today, with overnight lows in the upper 40s and lower 50s during the overnight hours of tonight. Heading into the day tomorrow, we’ll be looking at highs in the middle and upper 70s continuing. As high pressure works to the south and east, southerly winds will increase by the end of this week.

(WSAZ) - After the passage of a cold front, cool air is flooding into the region, allowing highs to only reach into the upper 70s today! As high pressure works in from the north, northerly winds will only increase, and continue to reinforce late-September like air into the region. Highs will only reach into the mid 70s tomorrow afternoon, with overnight lows dropping into the upper 40s and lower 50s.

(WSAZ) – Low pressure has finally made its way into the region for the day today, pulling in moisture and bringing about much needed rain for everyone within the WSAZ viewing area. This shower and thunderstorm activity will look to begin taking a break toward the early and middle portions of the afternoon hours of today in areas along and north of I-64, with rain looking to continue in areas along and south of I-64.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A First Alert Weather Day is in place for excessive heat. High temperatures will reach well into the middle and upper 90s, with ‘Feels Like’ temperatures reaching into the lower triple digits. Meanwhile, a little energy high in the sky should produce a few showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, which will be isolated in nature. No severe weather will be expected, but a few storms will have some downpours.

(WSAZ) - High pressure has moved into the region, after the remnants of Hurricane Beryl pushed on through (bringing us some rain and breezy conditions in the process). With the high to the west of us, northerly winds will develop in fairly comfortable temperatures for the overall region, with highs only reaching the middle and upper 80s (I know, it doesn’t sound that comfortable, but it’s better than the 90s).

(WSAZ) - An Excessive Heat Warning is in place for central portions of the WSAZ Viewing area until 8 PM today. With feels-like temperatures reaching 100° plus this afternoon and evening, you will need to drink multiple sips of water every 10 to 20 minutes. Be sure to take breaks in air conditioning, pools, or a splashpad, and know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
