While the main event of Summer League begins tomorrow in Las Vegas, the summer portion of the NBA schedule is not just limited to Sin City. Orlando Summer League has come and gone, sadly, but other locations have arisen to take its place. While there were plenty of fun games in Salt Lake City for Summer League, the NBA’s summer calendar opened up with this year’s sixth annual California Classic.

Nick: The Oklahoma City Thunder are in perhaps the most enviable position of any team in the NBA. They were the #1 seed in the Western Conference last season, and they climbed to the top seed much earlier than anyone expected. They also have a ton of room to grow—their core players were all in their age 25 or younger seasons last year, with second-place MVP finisher Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the oldest of the bunch; he won’t turn 26 until after the 2024 NBA Draft.

Stephen: It’s awesome for me to be present at this time of year, Nick. Over the course of my time with the No Ceilings team, I have missed the actual NBA Draft for the past two seasons. While we have spent much of the past few months evaluating the talent in this class, we now have a new objective: Figuring out where they do based on the draft order. Rucker: It’s always an exciting time to talk about what could happen when projecting the early portion of the NBA Draft. Personally, though, I love it when we can start to pivot and focus on specific teams. With a year that features so much uncertainty, especially in the lottery, we’re going to need to be open-minded with some of the names that can come into the picture for each team. Portland has my attention as one of the most exciting teams to watch in the lottery.

Spring has sprung, the NBA playoffs are in full swing, and the Madness of March is beginning to fade into the rearview mirror. For a few select NBA fanbases, the excitement levels are at a fever pitch. For the rest of the NBA fanbases, as well as the draft fanatics, the month of June is less about the NBA Finals and more about the 2024 NBA Draft.
