Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Monday said that power generation in the country increased by about 30 per cent in 2024. Adelabu made the disclosure during his ministry’s 2025 budget defence before the Senate Committee on Power at the National Assembly complex. He said that when he assumed the leadership of the ministry in 2023, he met an average of 4,100 megawatts of power generation.

The Zone 12 Command of the Nigeria Police Force, on Monday, said that the officer, who allegedly shot at a former Chairman of Ningi Local Government Council had been taken into custody. SP Thomas Goni, Zone 12 Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), with headquarters in Bauchi, confirmed the incident and assured that a thorough and impartial investigation would be conducted. “The officer involved has been identified and will face disciplinary action in line with the Force guidelines.

The ousted National Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, on Monday, resumed duty at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, in defiance of the court orders which had removed him from office. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a High Court and Court of Appeal had removed Anyanwu from office and recognised Sunday Udey-Okoye as the party’s national secretary.
