The discovery last year of two new door lock attack methods that could defeat most door locks shocked the industry, prompting the BSi to publish a tough new PAS24 update. Adding the tools to test for the new attacks to the PAS24 update mirrors the change made by Sold Secure to the Diamond (SS312) standard earlier this year. While achieving the standard is significantly tougher, it keeps standards one step ahead of the burglars.

And it’s not often the timing of an updated standard is accelerated in the public interest. Yet this is what’s happened with TS007-1 and PAS 24. The new standard is a security milestone, and it’s being prioritised because the industry needs to get ahead of the burglars before they start using new methods of attack.

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- It's hidden history in Richmond that is slowly but surely coming to light. At Woodland Cemetery in Henrico County, despite the snow and ice, volunteers shoveled away during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, unearthing headstones buried underneath decades of growing brush and roots. Though the story of the cemetery begins in 1891, the spot was officially created in 1917 by newspaper editor John Mitchell Jr. to be a revered resting place for African American families.
