Space, the final frontier and, as has been reported, a place where no-one can hear you scream. Despite Starfleet and the wider galaxy's endless quests to voyage into this great beyond, space truly is a dangerous place to be. Beyond the confines of bulkheads and forcefields is an endless expanse of total nothingness. Bereft of heat and oxygen, even the most battle hardened of Klingons wouldn't survive for more than a few seconds.

Although his first appearance would portray him as a ruthless commando with a (not unfounded) distaste for Vulcan trickery, Shran would spend the next four seasons leaping and bounding across the line of hero and villain in the eyes of Captain Archer and the Enterprise crew.

If there are three things in the Star Trek Universe that Kathryn Janeway hates: it's time travel, The Borg, and an empty coffee cup. Sure enough, when the time came to bring Voyager's 7 year journey through The Delta Quadrant to an end, two of these three affronts to her good mood would be brought to bear. Admiral Janeway (a now devout tea drinker) travels 30 years into the past to make contact with her younger self, in a bid to bring Voyager's long trek to an early finish.

It wouldn't be an understatement to say that, of all of the characters across Star Trek's breathtaking canon, Spock is the most seminal. After a year of boldly going across the galaxy, in the episode Journey to Babel, our most important Vulcan comes face to face with his own most important Vulcan. Sorry T'Pring, not you, this is Sarek, Vulcan ambassador, and Spock's father.
