According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), authorities received a call for the death around 6:45 a.m. on the 2100 block of Wyoming Street in south St. Louis’ Benton Park neighborhood. According to the Alton Police Department, the crash took place shortly before 5 a.m. in the area of the 3300 block of College Avenue. The train involved in the crash was traveling from St. Louis to Chicago. Ahead of the crash, police were contacted that a vehicle had crashed through a protective fence near an Amtrak station and had become stuck on the railroad tracks.
