Joaquin Phoenix’s flawless performance is why he rightfully won all the awards. Did I think that it needed a second movie? No. Do I mind that there’s a follow-up now? No. Does it need to exist? Yes and no. Joker: Folie à Deux is a very interesting one for me.

Alien is a sacred franchise. Yeah, there have been ups and downs, and below the ground, sewer-infested, rotten piles of trash (*cough* Alien Covenant *cough cough*AVP2: Requiem*cough*), but you cannot deny a franchise lasting 45 years is not just by fluke. The Xenomorph is an iconic monster in film history if not a villain. I mean, it’s an animal at the end of the day, so who’s to say what it does is evil when it’s just its natural instincts?

No, this isn’t the sequel to Vin Diesel’s film, xXx, where Xander Cage’s long-lost sister Maxine takes over the FAMILY business (although that would also be dope). MaXXXine is the third film and finale of Ti West’s Mia Goth-centric horror trilogy, following on from 2022’s X and 2023’s Pearl. Maxine Miller, now going by Maxine Minx, is finally getting her break in Hollywood! But will her sketchy porn star / wanted-for-serial-murders-perpetrated-in-quaint-farm country past catch up with her?

Since premiering in 2020 as one of the first Crunchyroll Original series, Tower of God (adapting the manhwa by S.I.U.) has garnered acclaim from critics and fans alike. And with the cliffhanger at the end of Season 1, people were clamouring for a Season 2 to answer all those burning questions. It’s taken four years, but we finally have the next chapter of Tower of God, and it’s already off to a great start. Thanks to Crunchyroll, we’ve been able to check out the first two episodes.

The Asus ROG Ally has been out in the ether now for about a year and it has been confirmed that its follow up, the Ally X will be coming July 22nd. More details on the new device were shared during a June 2nd special announcement letting us know what changes are coming with the next iteration. So maybe it’ll be a good time to check out the ROG Ally’s existing model if you’ve been holding off and want to save some money.

After a seven-day grieving period, The Acolyte returns with Episode 6, “Teach/Corrupt.” This episode is a bit slower than last week’s, but I definitely needed it to be. After the spectacle fights of Episode 5, spending time with characters who aren’t in immediate danger of being murdered is good for my heart. Despite the lack of murder, this might’ve been my favourite episode yet. Pieces are starting to fall into place, and mysteries are so close to being solved.

Mad Max: Fury Road was one of the best action films released in the 2010s. The film was praised for its story, characters, and action, winning several awards. The question on everyone’s mind after this, though, was how to follow up a film like Fury Road. Do they continue the story with a sequel, maybe a prequel, or perhaps even something unrelated to the movie? They could also leave it as a one-and-done thing, but that never happens these days. So, what did they end up doing?

I don’t know if I’m benefitting from Steam adding the “boomer shooter” tag to their storefront or if my Steam queue has finally attuned itself to my interests, but I’ve been lucky enough to stumble across some real gems in the rough lately. Cryptis is one of these gems! It’s a short free-to-play experience (around half an hour of playtime) put together by a solo dev named Dobrx, and it’s his first go at putting something up on Steam.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3 is almost here! The highly anticipated third season is set to air sometime this year, and I’ve been itching for some more Slime content in my life. Luckily for all of us Slime fans, we did get a little something to tide us over until the new season. Visions of Coleus is an OVA mini-series covering a bonus story initially released with the Blu-rays in Japan.
