A federal judge has temporarily blocked Trump’s executive order redefining birthright citizenship, calling it “blatantly unconstitutional” during the first hearing in a multi-state effort challenging the order. LoadingUS District Judge John Coughenour repeatedly interrupted a Justice Department lawyer during arguments to ask how he could consider the order constitutional.

By Jessica McSweeneyA police officer who was assaulted by rioters during the January 6 siege on the Capitol said he was disappointed to see his attackers granted pardons by Donald Trump. Washington, DC, police officer Daniel Hodges was violently assaulted by multiple rioters who beat him with his own baton, crushed him with a police shield and tried to gouge out his eyes. Hodges was working at Trump’s inauguration yesterday when it became clear that his attackers would be released.
