    Faith Kipyegon will bid to become the first woman to run a mile in under four minutes in June 26 in Paris. “I don’t believe it’s a matter of if a woman can break 4 minutes in the mile,” was posted on her social media. “It’s a matter of when we will do it.”Kipyegon, 31, won the last three Olympic gold medals in the 1500m, the closest distance to the mile that’s on the Olympic program. She is the women’s world record in the mile (4:07.64 from 2023) and the 1500m (3:49.04 from 2024).

    Simone Biles won her fourth Female Athlete of the Year trophy at the Laureus World Sports Awards, tying Serena Williams for the record. Biles was honored at the awards in Madrid, eight months after winning three gold medals and one silver at the Paris Olympics. Biles previously won the Laureus award in 2017, 2019 and 2020 for her accomplishments in each preceding year. Williams won the award in 2003, 2010, 2016 and 2018. The Laureus awards began in 2000.

    Kenyan Sharon Lokedi won the Boston Marathon in the fastest women’s time in race history, while Kenyan John Korir took the men’s race, 13 years after his older brother won it. Lokedi, runner-up in 2024, pulled away from two-time defending champion Hellen Obiri in the last mile. She clocked an unofficial 2 hours, 17 minutes, 22 seconds, smashing the course record of 2:19:59 set by Ethiopian Buzunesh Deba in 2014.

The 2024 Olympic program had "mixed doubles" in tennis (as in previous Games). The 2028 Olympic program has a "mixed event" for tennis. ITF says there are two options for the "mixed event" currently under review -- keeping the mixed doubles or potentially a new mixed team event. https://t.co/q7ZqfhWgdL
